DLA focuses on US in 46-strong global promotions round

DLA Piper has promoted 46 to partner in its latest US-heavy global promotions round.

In total, there were 17 promotions in the US, nine in the UK, 12 across Continental Europe, four in the UAE, two in China, and a further two in Australia.

Of these promotions, 12 (or 26 per cent) are female.

The nine promoted in the UK include four in London; real estate lawyer Chris Chan, IPT lawyer Patrick Mitchell, litigation and regulatory lawyer Edward Shaw and finance and projects lawyer Richard Skipper.

Elsewhere in the UK, Emma Phillips joined the employment practice in Birmingham, Andrew McIlhinney joined the employment practice in Liverpool. In Sheffield, Mark Keeling will join real estate, Amanda Pilkington will join IPT and David Beech will join corporate.

Globally, corporate saw the largest intake of new partners with 10 promotions, followed by litigation and regulatory with nine, finance and projects with seven and employment with five. Intellectual property and technology, real estate and tax each had four promotions, whilst there were two in restructuring and one in government affairs.

DLA Piper global co-CEO Simon Levine said: “These lawyers represent the next generation of DLA Piper and their dedication and commitment remains integral to the firm’s success and our continued ability to deliver first class legal advice to our clients.”
