Quinn recruits Clifford Chance tax disputes head in latest City boost

Clifford Chance tax disputes head Liesl Fichardt is joining Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan in London.

The US litigation boutique has been on a hiring spree in the City, taking Macfarlanes head of financial services David Berman, Herbert Smith Freehills construction disputes partner James Bremen and Addleshaw Goddard civil fraud head Mark Hastings.

The firm recently moved into Olswang’s City offices after the latter’s merger with CMS Cameron McKenna and Nabarro.

Fichardt will join Quinn as a partner, having led Clifford Chance’s tax investigations and disputes practice.

She advises on both international and domestic tax disputes, including complex cross border tax investigations, tax litigation and management of raids by tax authorities.

Fichardt joined the magic circle firm in 2013 from Berwin Leighton Paisner.

She became the firm’s contentious tax head, having practised as a tax barrister for 13 years before joining Dorsey & Whitney in 2006.

She moved to BLP two years later.
