Dentons pushes further into Latin America with Peru tie-up

Dentons is continuing to push further into Latin America through a proposed tie-up with Peruvian firm Gallo Barrios Pickmann.

The deal is yet to be approved by both firms, with partners expected to vote on the combination in the next few weeks.

If the tie-up gets the go-ahead, it would launch later this year.

Gallos Barrios Pickmann is comprised of 24 lawyers, six of whom are partners. Founding partners Julio Gallo, Manuel Barrios and Fernando Pickmann work on corporate matters, with a focus on the mining, natural resources and finance sectors.

Gallo Barrios Pickmann would give Dentons its first base in Peru after a series of similar mergers across Latin America.

Dentons is set to vote on a proposed alliance with Brazilian firm Vella Pugliese Buosi Guidoni and also announced plans to tie up with Pan-Central American firm Muñoz Global earlier this year.

It further opened a second office in Mexico via a local tie-up with independent firm Canales Zambrano y Asociados.

The Mexico opening came a year after Dentons’ first tie-up in the country in 2015 with local firm López Velarde Heftye y Soria and Colombian outfit Cárdenas & Cárdenas.
