SRA appoints three firms to legal panel

Three firms have been appointed to the Solicitors Regulation Authority’s (SRA) general panel.

The firms are Capital Law, Capsticks and Fieldfisher, with all appointments lasting for an initial three-year term.

The panel provides public law and regulatory advice to the SRA on matters such as judicial review and broader corporate support.

The SRA has overhauled its legal panels in the past 12 months, initially disbanding its litigation roster in favour of appointing Capsticks as sole legal provider.

Capsticks has won a place on the general panel, alongside Welsh-headquartered and long-running adviser Fieldfisher. Fieldfisher’s SRA team is led by senior partner Matthew Lohn and partner Sarah Ellson.

Bevan Brittan did not re-tender for a spot after the departure of its former head of commercial litigation Iain Miller to Kingsley Napley. Other firms to lose their places on the litigation panel were Simmons & Simmons and Russell Cooke.

The SRA’s legal team is run by general counsel Juliet Oliver.
