Clydes opens fourth US office in 12 months

Clyde & Co has opened its fourth US office in 12 months, launching in Los Angeles.

The firm has relocated San Francisco partner Julie Hawkinson to the city to spearhead Clyde’s expansion in California.

She will be joined by insurance partner Jim Koelzer, who has been a partner at Robins Kaplan for over a decade.

Initially the office will be made up of two partners, while the firm has also hired a counsel, senior associate and associate.

The new counsel and associate join from Robins Kaplan alongside Koelzer, with Clydes senior associate Natasha Mikha relocating from San Francisco.

The office will focus on working for clients in the insurance and aviation sectors, advising on litigation defense and insurance matters.

Since July last year, Clydes has opened in Miami by acquiring litigation boutique Thornton Davis Fein.

It also launched two new offices in Washington DC and Chicago following the hire of 10 partners from Troutman Sanders.

Four partners will join in Chicago while the other six will open Clydes’ new DC base. All practice across insurance and litigation and join with around 30 associates and staff.
