Dechert hires Kirkland & Ellis duo in London

Dechert has recruited again from Kirkland & Ellis – this time bringing on board corporate partner Christopher Field and tax partner Jane Scobie.

The hires mark a return to the law for Scobie, who is understood to have left Kirkland last year.

She joined the firm in 2008 from Weil Gotshal & Manges, where she was a senior associate. At Kirkland, she had worked alongside tax partner Jonathan Kandel, who also joined from Weil in 2015.

Scobie will be joined at Dechert by corporate partner Christopher Field, who joined Kirkland from Slaughters in 2005.

He became a partner at Kirkland over a decade ago.

Field focuses on private equity and M&A transactions, while Scobie’s practice focuses on tax aspects of commercial transactions.

Dechert has recruited a number of partners from Kirkland’s London office this year. It hired banking partner Rob Bradshaw in March as part of a move to bulk up its City finance practice.

In November, debt finance partner John Markland made the same move after 12 years at Kirkland, where he founded and led the European debt finance practice.
