Online certificate program in legal innovation offered by Suffolk Law

Suffolk University Law School announced Monday that it is offering an online certificate program in legal innovation and technology that is open to both lawyers and nonlawyers.

“The goal here is to help legal professionals rise to the top of their organizations when it comes to technology and innovation. We’re degree-agnostic,” Gabriel Teninbaum, a Suffolk law professor told the ABA Journal in an email. Teninbaum directs the school’s Institute on Legal Innovation and Technology, as well as the certificate program,.

A single course costs $3,000, according to Teninbaum, and the cost of a certificate, which is comprised of six classes, is $15,887. Each course will run between 10 and 12 weeks, according to a school press release, and subjects listed on the program’s website include legal operations, design thinking for legal professionals and legal project management.

Instructors include Lucy Bassli, an assistant general counsel of Microsoft; Robert Taylor, a vice president and senior corporate counsel with Liberty Mutual; and Erika Rickard, a researcher at Harvard Law School’s Access to Justice Lab.
