Cadwalader boosts City office with two female partner promotions

Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft has promoted nine lawyers to partner, including two in London.

The global round is one smaller than last year, although the same number of City lawyers have made the cut.

This year, the firm has promoted financial restructuring lawyer Jacqueline Ingram to partner, as well as Claire Suzanne Puddicombe in capital markets. Ingram joined Cadwalader in 2013 from Linklaters.

The promotions take the number of partners in Cadwalader’s London office to 17 and boosts the number of female members from three to five.

The office is led by Greg Petrick, who also serves as the firm’s co-chair of financial restructuring.

The remaining seven promotions come from the US, with four in the firm’s Charlotte office and two in New York.

Cadwalader has just two offices now outside the US – in Brussels and London. This followed the firm’s exit from Asia at the end of last year in which Cadwalader closed in Beijing and Hong Kong.

Nearly half of the promotions were to the firm’s capital markets group, with a further two in finance.

The two London promotions count as the only female promotions made by the firm this year.

Nicole Stephansen was also promoted to the role of senior counsel in London.
