Fangda Partners moves to iManage Work 10 for image document search

Fangda Partners is thought to be the first Chinese firm to deploy iManage 10 for document and email image searches, The Lawyer has learned.

Tech company iManage’s product targets problems that arise from the prevalence of unsearchable image files in the legal sector, a problem that arises from scanned documents being the norm.

The new technology allows users to search their emails and document repositories for information in image documents, which account for up to 20 per cent of documents, according to iManage.

Fangda is joining Mayer Brown and DLA Piper as clients for the tech business.

Fangda Partners have 400 lawyers across five offices in China and count Goldman Sachs, Starbucks and Nokia as clients.

“We have been using iManage for almost a decade now and this is the most significant update we have seen.” said Fangda partner Josh Shin.

iManage’s chief marketing officer Dan Carmel said: “Firms like Fangda Partners can quickly and efficiently carry out their key tasks so they can focus on delivering the highest quality advice to their clients.”

According to The Lawyer’s Asia Pacific 150 2017,Fangda Partners has 80 partners and showed growth in headcount, revenue per lawyer and profit per equity partner
