DLA Piper makes up 10 UK lawyers in partner promos round

DLA Piper has promoted 10 of its UK employees to partner in its latest promotions round, while the firm also revealed a strong set of financial results for 2017.

A total of eight lawyers in London have made the cut. These are corporate lawyer Chris Arnold, Peter Lowe of the firm’s real estate team, Kelly Lovegrove of tax, litigator Christina Lawrence and finance lawyers Steven Krivinskas and Bryony Robottom.

Additionally, two non-lawyers, Joel Cooper and Randall Fox, have been made up. Together they co-head DLA’s international transfer pricing group.

In Birmingham and Sheffield, two litigators have been promoted: Phillip Kelly in the former and Alaistair Clough in the latter.

Across the firm’s network, there were 62 promotions in total: 19 in the United States, 10 in the UK, 18 across Continental Europe, six in Canada, two in the Asia Pacific region, two in Latin America, two in the Middle East, two in Australia and one in South Africa.

Nineteen of the 62 new partners are women (30 per cent), including three of the 10 in the UK.

Alongside the promotions, DLA Piper has also revealed that its global revenue increased by nearly 7 per cent over 2017 from $2.47bn to $2.63bn.

Profits were up 10 per cent from $643.5m to $709.1m as total lawyer headcount dipped slightly from 3,616 to 3,609.

Average profit per equity partner rose 6 per cent from $1.66m to $1.76m.
