Irwin Mitchell reshuffles Manchester leadership after Addleshaw losses

Irwin Mitchell has announced that national head of family law Ros Bever will head up the firm’s Manchester office following the decampment of six partners to Addleshaw Goddard.

Current Manchester head Roy Beckett will step down on 1 May to lead the firm’s real estate presence in the city, after former regional real estate head Anita Weightman led five other partners to Addleshaws.

Bever will now take charge of a 260-strong team in the city covering personal injury, private wealth and business legal services.

Irwin Mitchell group chief executive Andrew Tucker said: “Ros’ promotion recognises the contribution she has made to the Manchester office, most recently in her role as partner and head of the Manchester family law team.

“I know she will bring huge energy and enthusiasm to the role, complementing her significant experience of the industry as a partner at Irwin Mitchell. I’d like to thank Roy Beckett for his significant contribution to the business during his time serving as regional managing partner. He will continue to play a crucial role in our business legal services division and will be focusing on leading our real estate team across the North West.”

Last month, the firm announced its plans to relocate from its current offices in the city’s Bauhaus building to One St Peter’s Square in June after signing a 15-year lease.

Irwin Mitchell will join Addleshaw Goddard, DLA Piper and KPMG in the building.

Bever said: “I am thrilled and extremely proud to be appointed as regional managing partner in Manchester and I’m excited to be building on the excellent work of my predecessors, Roy Beckett and Grahame Codd.

“We have and will continue to invest in our Manchester office and I’m looking forward to working closely with everyone to capitalise on the opportunities we have as a truly integrated, full-service offering in the North West.”
