Deloitte’s legal division is expanding its legal services for international clients by creating an alliance with a U.S. law firm that will advise on employment issues and workplace management in the United States.

The nonexclusive alliance is between Deloitte Legal and Epstein Becker Green, which bills itself as a national law firm with offices in 14 U.S. cities. Bloomberg Law and the American Lawyer have coverage; a press release is here.

Unable to provide legal services in the United States, the accounting firm is opting to create alliances here. Last year, Deloitte UK formed an alliance with a U.S. immigration law firm, Berry Appleman & Leiden, and purchased its assets outside the United States.

Epstein Becker will be Deloitte’s “preferred provider” for labor, employment and workforce management services, according to Epstein Becker’s chief operating officer, Steven Di Fiore, who spoke with Bloomberg Law. And Epstein Becker can refer its clients to Deloitte for overseas legal work.

According to Bloomberg Law, the announcement comes as law firms are increasingly competing with the Big Four for clients in some international jurisdictions where accounting firms are allowed to offer legal services.
