The U.S. Justice Department has agreed to produce material redacted from the Mueller report along with underlying evidence to the House Intelligence Committee.

The committee chairman, Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff of California, announced the deal on Wednesday, the Washington Post reports. Schiff said the Justice Department will release 12 categories of counterintelligence and foreign intelligence materials from the investigation by special counsel Robert Mueller.

The Justice Department will begin turning over the materials this week. In exchange, Schiff agreed that a subpoena against Attorney General William Barr would not be enforced.

Schiff added that the subpoena will be enforced if the Justice Department does not comply with the full request for documents.

The Washington Post says Schiff’s decision to delay enforcement of the subpoena “represents a rare moment of detente between House Democrats and Barr.”

DOJ has accepted our offer, and will begin turning over to the Committee twelve categories of counterintelligence and foreign intelligence materials beginning this week.

Our subpoena will remain in effect, and be enforced should DOJ fail to comply with the full document request.
