Reed Smith takes eight-lawyer Paris team from Winston & Strawn

Reed Smith has added an eight-lawyer tax team from Winston & Strawn in Paris.

The French capital has seen a number of high-profile team moves in the last few weeks, including a five-partner team joining Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer from Ashurst.

Freshfields also lost its entire real estate team in Paris to Jones Day last week, while Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe hired Clifford Chance Paris antitrust head Patrick Hubert.

The latest exits come from Winston & Strawn’s French office, led by partners Jean-Pierre Collet, Florence Bilger and David Colin. Collet headed up Winston’s tax department in Paris. They will be joined by three counsel, one associate and one jurist.

The news follows Reed Smith’s mass hire from King & Wood Mallesons earlier this year.

The firm hired a 50-lawyer team from the collapsed firm, with seven partners joining in Paris. A total of 18 lawyers joined in Paris altogether.

The departures leave Winston with eight partners in Paris.
